I had the distinct pleasure of photographing the much anticipated granddaughter of a friend and fellow photographer. My friend, Margaret, has been waiting for the arrival of this bundle of joy for quite some time. She’s shared her excitement when they learned it was a girl and like any new grandmother (especially of a little girl), she went wild picking outfits, props and accessories for Isabella. So when she let me know I could take her photos, I knew not only would I have a beautiful baby, but I’d have her by my side helping in her own granddaughter’s first photography session.
Margaret has been such a wonderful friend over the last year or so, letting me borrow props and a lens when mine was stolen. She’s been my assistant in several newborn sessions, helping to pose, sooth, clean or pick up the studio. There were times she was just there for support. I’ve truly been grateful for her friendship.
Her granddaughter, Isabella, was only 12 days old when she came to the studio. Despite having some issues at birth, she was a truly amazing baby. I styled one of the setups with the 1987 movie, Steel Magnolias in mind. It’s the 30 anniversary for the movie and one of my personal favorites. I got to use a little metal cart and big, beautiful magnolias. It feels so southern! The rest of her session was styled as girly as I could get. All pink, pearls and diamonds…a girl’s best friends. I can’t wait to see this precious girl grow up. Thank you to both Margaret and her daughter Kim, for allowing me to capture these incredible images.
I was thrilled at how her images turned out and hope her family loves them as much as I do. My hope is that you enjoy them as well.
