I don’t always get clients in the traditional way. Sometimes they come by way of referrals, clients talking to their friends about their experience. Other times, talking to my own friends, someone might mention someone they know who is expecting and subtly mention their interest in a newborn session. Since my life revolves about my job {I’m lucky that way}, it comes up in conversation in the most unexpected way. That’s how I came to find out about Jaycie and her sweet baby boy, Zayden.
While I’m working with my hair and makeup artist, Micaela, on a maternity client, we’re just in a casual conversation about life in general. We chat about her clients or we’re chatting and getting to know the client in the chair. This time, I found myself in the chair getting my own hair and makeup done for a video for my website. While chatting away, Micaela mentions a family member who recently had a baby boy. But her story tugged at my mama heart strings so I was compelled to listen. Micaela went on to say that Zayden was a rainbow baby.
Rainbow babies are those babies who come into the world after the loss of a baby or child, by way of miscarriage, stillborn or infant loss. In my opinion, rainbow baby’s are God’s way of showing us that all things work for his good. I’ve never personally been through a miscarriage or a loss of any kind so I can’t imagine the pain of losing a child. But anytime I hear about a family that has experienced this, I just want to reach out and give them a hug or a shoulder to cry on. As a mom of two boys, you can’t help but want to comfort even though there aren’t enough tears in the world to rid of the pain.
However, when God blesses them with a rainbow baby that is something worth celebrating. So I offered to do a complimentary session to commemorate this amazing family. I just had to wait to see if they accepted my gift.
It didn’t take long for me to hear back from them. I was immediately smitten with this family and especially Zayden. Zayden is the youngest of three boys. His oldest brother, Hayden, 13 was in school while we were together at the studio. But his heavenly brother, Brayden, was always with him. Ever since Jaycie and her husband lost Braden, they have slept with an adorable teddy bear that they had especially for Brayden. By now, it was worn and showed signs of so much love and they brought it with them to Zayden’s session. Honestly, at certain moments, it was hard for me to keep my composure. I couldn’t imagine experiencing their loss, but I was just honored to be able to give them the gift of these images of Zayden with his big brother.
All I can say is Zayden was such a good baby. I didn’t want him to leave my studio. I just wanted to cuddle with him as long as I could. Of course, I’m that way with all the babies that come to visit me. But there was just something about him. I couldn’t put my finger on it. So I cuddled for along as I could and finished our session on a high note. I absolutely love how all his beautiful photos turned out. I look forward to celebrating this little one getting bigger and hope to continue capturing his story. Until we meet again, sweet Zayden.

Hello world!
